Import
Our parasols and umbrellas originate and ship directly from our factory in Doi Saket, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Your country requires a customs procedure upon arrival of your shipment. Your involvement with this procedure varies according to shipping methods. The cost of importation depends on your country.
Involvement
There may be country-specific differences for procedures below.
Since only one of the options applies to one shipment, it's not as bad as it looks!
‣ Postal Service
The Postal Service handles importation and provides you with an invoice (if applicable) and/or documentation when you receive your shipment.
‣ Courier
Similar to the Postal Service. Depending on the carrier, clearance service cost is either included or is relatively small.
‣ FOB, CIF, Airfreight, standard Seafreight
Incoming freight forwarders appoint a clearance agent (with service fee), unless you appoint your own or clear the shipment yourself.
‣ Shared Seafreight (USA)
None. We appoint a clearance agent. You await notification of clearance. Your share of clearance cost is included the prepaid shipping quote.
Cost
Generally, the EU and UK do not charge import duties on our handmade parasols and umbrellas. They do charge standard VAT. Other countries vary. Exemptions for smaller shipments (samples) may apply.
Generally, the US does not charge import duties and does not charge state sales tax on our handmade parasols and umbrellas. Unless you reside in the state that your shipment arrives in. Our shared seafreight shipments arrive in New Jersey.
For FOB, CIF, Airfreight and standard Seafreight shipments, clearance agents invoice variable service fees.
Contact us for further information. The shipment's freight forwarder/shipper and the customs department can give specific details.
